Merhaba! Adım Caitlin! Or, in English, Hi, my name is Caitlin! I am currently a junior studying Communication and International Security Studies. This will be my third time abroad and my second time as an exchange student. When I was in high school, the summer before my senior year, I had the opportunity to live in Chile, for two months, with the family of an exchange student my family had hosted. My first experience as an exchange student was incredible and left me longing for more, similar experiences. As I am already proficient in Spanish I wanted to venture somewhere different where I could possibly acquire a third language. Turkey is such a unique country, literally and figuratively, where east meets west, it seemed to be a perfect fit. I hope my blog will encourage others, in the future, to journey to new and different places which will inspire them to think and exist outside of their comfort zone.
I have been involved with several of the multicultural/international student organizations on campus, such as, French and Francophone Student Association, PanAmerican Student Association, International Advisory Committee, and OU Cousins, which has been such a wonderful gift. I believe it is through my interaction with these various groups that has prepared me to go out and face the challenges I will face in a new, foreign, and exciting place.
